On September 30, 60 elementary school students dressed to the nines, as well as their teachers, got a special treat to give them a night they won’t forget.
To start, the students were treated to a pleasant dinner (which the students rated five stars!) from the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Binghamton. Next, they had the chance to meet Daniel Hege, the conductor of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the one of the cellists and have a question and answer session. Needless to say, the kids were starstruck!
Then… it was showtime! The students got to attend the orchestra’s performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at the Broome County Forum Theatre. Benjamin Franklin and Theodore Elementary Elementary Schools Orchestra Teacher Amanda Schmitz noted it may not be easy for some students to sit through a long performance, but they did it and the students were very engaged!
